FONTANA, Ca. — NASCAR is staying out west for one more race, and it should be a very entertaining race this weekend. The pricing on DraftKings is a little weak this weekend, but qualifying really mixed things up. This week I’m going to be focusing on five guys you should have in your lineups for 50/50s.
Kyle Busch – $10,300 – I like Jimmie Johnson and Kevin Harvick as well, but it’s hard to overlook how good Kyle Busch has been this season. Busch has finished fourth or better in all four races this season, and comes in with four straight top three finishes at Auto Club Speedway. He comes in with the second highest driver rating, and the second highest average running position among active drivers here at ACS. He’s a guy that could lead a lot of laps in the second half of this race, and I’ve had him in locked into my lineup all week long.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. – $9,600 – Jr is a guy that you have to lock into your cash lineups this weekend, and he did us a huge favor qualifying in the 27th spot. I really like Kurt Busch as well, and will likely play both of them in my lineups. He’s finished 12th or better in five straight races here. In March of 2011, he started 30th and finished with a top 12 finish. A top 15 finish will result in 40+ fantasy points for Jr this weekend, and that’s without any fastest laps or laps led. This is exactly the type of play you want for 50/50 games.
Kyle Larson – $8,200 – Larson has been disappointing this season, and really that hasn’t changed this weekend. With all that being said, we can’t overlook how far back he qualified. Larson has finished 26th or better in both career races here, and has an average running position of 12.8 in those two races. Getting in a wreck concerns me a little, but starting this far back, there’s not a lot of risk taking Larson this weekend. I don’t mind Elliott if you’re playing in a large field tournament this weekend.
Danica Patrick – $6,200 – Danica showed up big for fantasy NASCAR last weekend, and I’m going right back to the well this weekend. Danica has finished 26th or better in three career races here, and has positive place differential in all of those races. After wrecking in Daytona, she has bounced back with three straight finishes in the top 21. She needs a top 22 finish for 30+ fantasy points this weekend, and I wouldn’t be shocked if she finished in the top 20.
Brian Vickers – $5,400 – At this price point, you have to start your 50/50 lineups with Vickers this weekend. With his price being so low, he only needs a top 20 finish to hit value this weekend. He has nine races here since 2007, and has an average finish of 11.88 over those nine races. This has been one of his best tracks throughout his career, and this might be the best equipment that he’s ever had here. I’m locking him into my lineups. If you want to be different in a large field tournament, I think Matt DiBenedetto could be a very solid sleeper play.
I’m doing a special Fantasy NASCAR periscope Saturday night at 9PM EST. I will be taking question about building lineups, and answering any questions you have for this weekend. If you have a question you’d like me to answer Saturday night, tweet it to @Stevietpfl.
