WEEKLY FANTASY PICKS: Best bets for Martinsville fantasy teams
- Updated: April 3, 2016

After a week off for Easter, we are back on the fantasy NASCAR grind this weekend. Martinsville (Tune In Sunday 1pm EST FS1) offers a lot of points for laps led, and for fastest laps. This week you will need a good balance of dominator points, and a few drivers scoring solid place differential points. I’m going to be focusing on plays for 50/50 and double up games this weekend, and I’ll be using DraftKings pricing.
Joey Logano – $10,200 – Logano has a ton of upside from the pole this weekend, and he’s a guy I’m going to be building my lineups around this weekend. This will be his third straight pole here, and he’s led at least 100 laps in each of the last two races. He was well on his way to the win last fall, but Matt Kenseth wrecked him with less than 50 laps to go. He’s finished in the top five in three of the last four races here at Martinsville.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. – $9,000 – Earnhardt was a guy I was looking at coming into the weekend, and then he did the DFS community a favor when he qualified 21st. Martinsville has been very kind to Jr, and he comes in with top ten finishes in seven of his last ten races here. With him starting so far back, he’s going to be a guy you want to target for place differential points in cash games this weekend. Pairing him with guys like Johnson and Logano, are probably going to be the way I end up going in cash games. Hendrick has dominated here at Martinsville, and Jr has learned from two of the best here.
Carl Edwards – $8,700 – If you would have asked me on Tuesday if I liked Edwards, I would have said no without thinking twice about it. That’s why qualifying is so important for fantasy NASCAR. Edwards only has one top ten in the last ten races here, but always tends to finish in the 11 to 15 ranges. A top 14 finish will result in at least 40 fantasy points for Edwards this weekend. I don’t expect him to be very popular this weekend because of his past results here, but I love his chances to return at least 40 fantasy points.
Austin Dillon – $6,700 – Dillon is a lock for my cash lineup this weekend, and I’m guessing he’s going to be very popular. He has an average finish of 12th over his last six cap races, and he’s been one of the best cars this season. He’s starting 29th, and DraftKings hasn’t adjusted his price tag for his performance this season. This hasn’t been his strongest track, but we can overlook past data for what he’s been doing with this new aero package.
Danica Patrick – $6,200 – I’m going right back to the well this weekend, and she would have been fantasy gold if Kahne didn’t get into her. Starting 28th this weekend, she offers a solid floor, but also has some solid upside at this price tag. I will say, in six career races here, she’s had issues in three of those races. In the three races that she didn’t have issues, she finished 17th or better. She’s not the safest option, but I like her a lot more than a guy like Vickers. She would score at least 30 fantasy points with a top 20 finish this weekend.
