TALLADEGA, Ala. — We head to Talladega for the Geico 500, and have to completely change the strategy we’ve been using. We go from short track racing, to the other extreme with a superspeedway. Place differential is the safest way to score fantasy points this weekend, In cash games this weekend, you want to go with four to five place differential guys, and try to pick one guy you think will lead laps. This article will focus on 50/50 and double up games.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. – $10,300 – This shouldn’t shock anyone, Jr. is the man at superspeedways. He has six career wins at Talladega, and he won the spring race here last May. He has the highest driver rating, and he’s led the most laps by an active driver. We seen that the low line was very fast and tough to pass in the XFINITY race, and I could see Jr. out front early. Earnhardt is always a guy that finds the led here, and should be the highest owned driver in cash games this weekend.

Kevin Harvick – $9,400 – Harvick is just starting too far back here, and seems to be one of the safest options on the board. Harvick has only qualified in the top ten in two of his last twenty races here. Harvick has an average finish of 15.3 in thirty career races here, and he has three top tens in the last four races. He is a very solid place differential play this weekend, and he has top ten finishes in three of the last four races.

Kurt Busch – $8,800 – Kurt is another guy that struggles to qualify here, and may just qualify in race trim. He has only started in the top ten in two of his last ten races here. He’s finished 12th or better in three straight races, and he’s always been good at passing under green here. He has the highest pass differential among active drivers.

Jamie McMurray – $7,900 – Like Kevin Harvick, McMurray has a very high pass differential at this track, and is in a good spot to score some solid place differential points here. McMurray has never been good at qualifying here, but he’s been really good or really bad here. He does seem to make his way to the front, and he’s always a guy that could pick up 20-40 laps led. I’m playing McMurray for the 10+ place differential point upside here, but I wouldn’t hate for him to lead some laps here.

Danica Patrick – $6,400 – Danica set herself up to be a very solid value play when she qualified 37th, and I really think she’s a safe option this weekend. She has never finished worst than 33th here at Talladega. With her starting spot, there is a very solid place differential floor. She has six career races here, and her average finish is 25.83. If she stays out of trouble, she will be a top 15-point scorer this weekend.
