The racing community was devastated when they lost one of their own on August 7, 2016. Bryan Clauson, a versatile and accomplished racecar driver, was killed in a crash in the Belleville Midget Nationals in Belleville, Kansas. Though the Sprint Cup Series was off last weekend, NASCAR still honored Clauson by running a decal with his initials on the A-Post of every car in the XFINITY Series race at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course last Saturday.

Clauson drove in 26 career XFINITY Series races, and this weekend at Bristol Motor Speedway, Sprint Cup Series driver Ricky Stenhouse Jr. is honoring his friend by running an identical paint scheme to what Clauson drove during the 2008 NXS season with sponsor Fastenal.

“It will be a huge honor to run the same Fastenal scheme that Bryan raced in 2008,” said Stenhouse in a team release. “This past week has been difficult for many but it has been great to see the racing community join together to support Bryan’s family, friends and Lauren. Bryan was one of my best friends and hopefully we can ‘parked it’ in victory lane on Saturday for Bryan.”

Stenhouse also paid tribute to Clauson during the Knoxville Nationals last Thursday, pacing the field in the car that Clauson was scheduled to race before pulling into victory lane. As Clauson would say, he “parked it.”

“Ricky approached us last week about the opportunity to honor Bryan at Bristol by running the paint scheme we ran with him in 2008,” said vice president of marketing for Fastenal, Brooke Misna. “We thought it was an admirable tribute to someone we looked at as a valued member of the Blue Team.”

The Bass Pro Shops / NRA Night Race at Bristol Motor Speedway is this Saturday night at 8PM ET. Stenhouse has two top-five and three top-10 finishes in seven career starts at the half-mile track.
