10 races – 10,000 miles – One Epic Racing Road Trip #ChasingTheChase

By Jerry Jordan, Editor

Have you ever wanted to take a road trip to a NASCAR race and hang out in the camp ground? What about taking a road trip, going to 10 NASCAR races, hanging out at 10 different campgrounds and stopping off at cool locations between each race weekend? Well, now you can, sort of.

In a crazy idea hatched during the rain delay at Bristol Motor Speedway a few weeks ago, a decision was made for Kickin’ the Tires to follow the NASCAR Chase from Chicagoland to Homestead and all points in between. And if you checkout #ChasingTheChase on Twitter or visit www.KickinTheTires.net you can read about all of the craziness. Plus, there will be live video feeds at different points along the trip and somehow a few drivers agreed to stop by, sign autographs and talk with fans. Just think how lucky the fans around the Kickin’ the Tires campsite will be.

I will be joined by several different NASCAR reporters over the next 10 weeks. Chris Knight, of Catchfence.com and Matt Weaver, of AutoWeek and Racer.com will be along for the ride at different intervals. Apparently, they have lives and previous commitments, so they can’t just hangout on the road for 70-days like me. A few other of my media friends will also be making guest appearances at different infield locations – Kelly Crandall, Chris Owens, Camille Jones, Hunter Thomas, Jim Utter (he doesn’t know it yet) and Dominic Aragon just to name a few.

Each day I will write a short synopsis of what happened, the things I saw and post a few photos because I am sure there will be things that no one would believe without photos. The trip ends at Homestead-Miami Speedway with the crowing of the 2016 Camping World Truck Series Champion, the 2016 Xfinity Series Champion and the 2016 Sprint Cup Series Champion.

So, keep in touch with us to find out what’s happening on the road and if you want, send us your comments via email or, even better, post them on Twitter, Facebook and SnapChat and be sure to use the #ChasingTheChase hash tag so we can aggregate all of the content at the end of the trip.
