KANSAS CITY, Kan. — It was an eventful final NASCAR Sprint Cup Series practice session at Kansas Speedway on Saturday afternoon, and was particularly brutal for Stewart-Haas Racing.

The caution came out twice during the nearly one-hour session and both were for SHR cars. Harvick got loose and hit the outside wall in turn four. The contact was minimal so he did not have to go to a backup.

Harvick’s teammate Kurt Busch then spun on the frontstretch due to a cut tire as the red and black flags were flying to end the session. The nose of his No. 41 car dug into the frontstretch grass, tearing up the front end of the car.

Busch will have to go to a backup car, meaning that he will start Sunday’s Hollywood Casino 400 from the rear of the field.

This was the second of two practice sessions for the Sprint Cup Series teams on Saturday. Busch was ninth quickest in the first session and third in the session when he spun. Harvick ended the first session second and the final session in 13th.

Paul Menard was fastest in the earlier session while pole-sitter Matt Kenseth had the quickest time in Happy Hour.

The Hollywood Casino 400 will start at 2:15PM ET Sunday, October 16th.
