Blake Koch Goes to Backup Following Crash in Practice

By Summer Bedgood, Managing Editor

FORT WORTH, TX – NASCAR XFINITY Series Chaser Blake Koch had a rather tumultuous Friday afternoon. After just one lap of practice, Koch crashed hard in turn two at Texas Motor Speedway and had to go to a backup car.

During the second practice session of the day, an issue with the clutch kept the team from going out onto the track. Though the team initially thought they would have to change the transmission, ultimately they didn’t have to and Koch was able to eventually make it onto the track during the second session.

Four drivers will advance to the championship race at Homestead-Miami Speedway. Though not locked in, Koch is currently one of those four drivers on points with a five-point cushion over the cutoff point. Texas is the second of three races in the Round of 8.

Qualifying will begin at 10:45AM CT on Saturday morning while the O’Reilly Auto Parts Challenge will begin later that afternoon at 2:00PM CT.
