FORT WORTH, TX – As expected, Chase drivers dominated the top of the scoring charts during the only Sprint Cup Series practice session on Friday. Kevin Harvick was fastest with a time of 27.455 seconds at 196.685 mph. Joe Gibbs Racing teammates Carl Edwards and Matt Kenseth were second and third, respectively. Ford drivers Joey Logano and Ryan Blaney rounded out the top five. Blaney was the fastest non-Chase driver of the session.

Chevrolets rounded out the top 10 with Chase Elliott, Kurt Busch (Chaser), Kyle Larson, AJ Allmendinger, and Casey Mears.

Denny Hamlin was 15th quickest while his teammate Kyle Busch hit the wall early on in practice and was only 22nd on the speed charts. Jimmie Johnson – whose win last weekend in Martinsville Speedway locked him into the Championship 4 in Homestead-Miami Speedway – was the slowest Chaser at 33rd quickest.

Qualifying for Sunday’s AAA Texas 500 is later this afternoon at 6:45PM ET. On Saturday, NSCS teams will have two practice sessions. The race will follow on Sunday at 2PM ET.
