FORTH WORTH, Tex. – Current HScott Motorsports driver Michael Annett in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series will be transitioning to a fourth full-time team for JR Motorsports in the XFINITY Series in 2017. Sponsor Pilot Flying J will be coming with him, as the 30-year-old driver will be behind the wheel of the No. 5 JRM car.

“What a great opportunity it is to bring Michael and Pilot Flying J on board with JR Motorsports,” said Kelley Earnhardt Miller, general manager of JR Motorsports.  “To expand our presence in the NASCAR Xfinity Series truly shows the commitment JRM and our sponsors have made to the series.  By partnering with Pilot Flying J, all the pieces are in place to run four competitive, full-time cars for a championship next year.  We’re confident this will make our organization even stronger.”

Annett will join fellow full-time teammates Elliott Sadler, Justin Allgaier, and rookie William Byron. There will also be a fifth car run in a handful of races next season with team owner Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Sprint Cup Series regular Kasey Kahne sharing seat time.

“I’m excited for this opportunity with JR Motorsports,” said Annett.  “Dale Jr. and Kelley have done a great job building this organization.  They have put the right people in place and have a championship to their name. I look forward to joining them and competing for wins and a championship next season in the Xfinity Series.”

Annett has not competed in the XFINITY Series since 2013, running 25 of the 33 races for Richard Petty Motorsports. In that time, he earned one top-five and four top-10 finishes. The Iowa native has been competing in the Sprint Cup Series over the past three years. So far in 2016, Annett has an average finish of 32nd.

JR Motorsports currently has two cars in the XFINITY Series Chase with Allgaier and Sadler. The organization has earned five wins through 2016 amongst three drivers.

A crew chief will be announced at a later date.
