With the 2017 NASCAR XFINITY Series season approaching, the plans for Richard Childress Racing’s (RCR) No. 3 Chevrolet have become a little more clear.

RCR announced in a release Tuesday that premium firearm, rail system and accessory provider Daniel Defense Partners will serve as a primary sponsor for the team’s No. 3 Chevrolet in the Xfinity Series for select races during the 2017 season.

In the release RCR also confirmed that incoming Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series rookie Ty Dillon and another, currently unnamed driver will pilot the machine in the upcoming season.

“We’re pleased to welcome Daniel Defense to our family of partners at RCR,” team owner Richard Childress said in a release. “I’ve gotten to know the Daniel family over the past few years and am glad we could forge a partnership to help Daniel Defense grow its brand in the firearm industry.”
The announced sponsorship marks Daniel Defense Partners’ first foray into NASCAR.
“Richard Childress is a proven winner and a staunch defender of our Second Amendment rights, two things that are important to me personally and reflect the culture of Daniel Defense,” Daniel Defense President and CEO Marty Daniel said. “Teaming up with Richard Childress Racing was a natural fit, and I’m sure it will open up many exciting opportunities for both Daniel Defense and RCR.”
Dillon finished fifth in the series standings to end his third full-time season in the Xfinity Series in 2016. The Lewisville, N.C., native has earned 70 top 10s, 29 top fives and a 2014 victory at Indianapolis Motor Speedway in 111 series starts to date.
