In 1992, Hooters rode with Alan Kulwicki for the entire season as Kulwicki narrowly defeated Bill Elliott by 10 points to claim his lone NASCAR Winston Cup Series (now Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series) championship.

25 years later, the casual dining establishment will sponsor the son of the man Kulwicki bested.

Hendrick Motorsports announced Monday that Hooters will join the organization for 2017 and ’18 as a sponsor of sophomore Chase Elliott.

Hooters will serve as a primary sponsor of Elliott’s No. 24 Chevrolet in two races over each of the next two seasons, covering the 2016 Rookie of the Year’s car on May 7 at Talladega Superspeedway and Nov. 12 at Phoenix International Raceway.

“Twenty-five years after being part of one of the most memorable seasons in NASCAR history, Hooters is excited to support another amazing talent in Chase Elliott and the No. 24 team,” Carl Sweat, chief marketing officer of Hooters of America LLC said in a release. “As the official headquarters of race day, we’re proud that so many NASCAR fans choose to watch the races at Hooters every week while enjoying their favorite wings, ice cold beer and one-of-a-kind Hooters Girl hospitality.”

Elliott, a 2014 XFINITY Series champion, led the way in a strong rookie class in 2016, earning 10 top fives and 17 top 10s en-route to a Chase berth and a 10th-place finish in the standings.

“Hooters is a place where I can let down my guard and have a good time,” Elliott said. “It means a lot to have them support the No. 24 team, and I can’t wait to get behind the wheel of their car. Being on the ground level of introducing a new partner to the Hendrick Motorsports family is going to be a lot of fun. Hooters has a historic place in this sport, and I’m glad they’re back. Our entire team is looking forward to making the program a success.”

Elliott will also receive sponsorship from NAPA Auto Parts, 3M, SunEnergy1, Kelley Blue Book and Mountain Dew in the upcoming season.
