Incoming XFINITY Series (NXS) rookie Daniel Hemric’s first primary sponsor will be a familiar face for fans of Richard Childress Racing (RCR).

Smokey Mountain Herbal Snuff will be the primary sponsor for Hemric in the season-opening PowerShares QQQ 300 at Daytona International Speedway, along with additional events throughout the season, RCR announced in a release Wednesday. The smokeless tobacco company will also serve as an associate sponsor for Hemric’s entire 2017 run.

Hemric will make his NXS debut at Daytona, joining RCR after a two seasons in the Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS). The 26-year-old tallied 15 top fives and 30 top 10s in 46 starts during the stint, earning a spot in the inaugural Truck Series playoff (then Chase) on points in 2016.

“I am looking forward to carrying the Smokey Mountain Herbal Snuff colors on the No. 21 Chevrolet Camaro this season,” said Hemric. “They have a successful history in NASCAR and we hope to continue that during the 2017 XFINITY Series season. It means a lot that Smokey Mountain Herbal Snuff has the confidence in our team to get the job done on and off the racetrack.”

Smokey Mountain Herbal Snuff last sponsored Johnny Sauter during the his 2016 Camping World Truck Series championship run with GMS Racing. The company has a history with RCR, most recently sponsoring the organization’s NXS program in 2014.

“After our success in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series in 2016, Smokey Mountain Herbal Snuff was looking for a competitive team and driver in the NASCAR XFINITY Series for the 2017 season,” Dave Savoca, president of Smokey Mountain Chew said in a release. “We feel like Richard Childress Racing and Daniel Hemric are an ideal fit for our brand. We partnered with RCR and drivers Brian Scott and Brendan Gaughan in the NASCAR XFINITY Series in 2014, and saw measurable growth in our brand through our relationship with this top-notch organization. We look forward to that continued success in 2017 both on and off the track.”

Any additional sponsored races will be announced at a later time.

The 2017 NXS season will begin at Daytona on Feb. 25.
