Kickin’ the Tires expands for 2017
- Updated: February 22, 2017
With the hype and excitement of a new season of racing ahead of us, Kickin’ the Tires (KtT) is expanding to provide better content for the millions of motorsports fans worldwide.
KtT has brought in three talented new writers over the offseason to join website owner Jerry Jordan and NASCAR Editor Summer Bedgood in order to bolster the site’s coverage of NASCAR, the Verizon IndyCar Series and other forms of motorsport for the coming year.
They are, listed in alphabetical order: Aaron Bearden, Kristen Schneider and Yvonne Jones.
Bearden joined KtT over the winter as our Motorsports Editor after a successful two-year stint as an associate editor at Frontstretch. A native of Indiana, Bearden will cover multiple series for KtT, with a primary focus on NASCAR and IndyCar. A graduate of Ball State University, Bearden has covered multiple of the sport’s biggest races in his three years of writing, including the 100th Running of the Indianapolis 500 and the Bristol Night Race.
Schneider and Jones make their way to KtT as Staff Writers.
Directly in the midst of her junior year of college at the University of South Carolina (USC), KtT welcomes Schneider to aid the site’s NASCAR coverage. Schneider’s been a constant presence in the motorsports world in recent years, contributing to outlets including Popular Speed and Skirts and Scuffs. An Ohio transplant in the south, Schneider aims to pursue a career in NASCAR upon her graduation from USC.
A native of Jamaica, Jones arrived at KtT in Dec. with a wealth of experience in the journalism world, having both covered stick-and-ball sports for the AP upon her graduation from New York University in 1998, and served as a NASCAR content editor for 11 years at CBSSports.com. Jones has spent more than a decade carving her own niche in the sport since she fell in love with the sound of the cars at her first race in 2005.
