DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – On the eve of his fifth Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series season with Team Penske, Joey Logano has been secured with the organization for many years to come.

Team Penske and Shell-Pennzoil announced Friday a partnership that will see both Shell and Pennzoil sponsor Penske’s NASCAR and Verizon IndyCar Series efforts through 2022.

“Penske Corporation is proud to continue its partnership with Shell,” Roger Penske, founder and chairman, Penske Corporation said in a release. “Team Penske has enjoyed great success with Shell, both on and off the race track, and we are excited to build on our relationship well into the next decade with our teams, both in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series and the Verizon IndyCar Series.”

The chief benefactor of the announcement is Logano, who has signed a contract extension through 2022 and figures to retain Shell the primary sponsor of his No. 22 Ford for the entirety of the tenure. The Middletown, Connecticut native has enjoyed the majority of his 17-career MENCS victories during his time with Penske, with triumphs in the 2015 Daytona 500 and 2016 All-Star Race among his many accomplishments.

“I’ve known my entire life I wanted to be a NASCAR Cup Series driver,” Logano said. “Now, to be able to know that I get the opportunity to drive for Roger Penske for the foreseeable future where I can focus solely on winning races and championships, is a life-long dream for me. To know that our executives, our sponsors, my team and all of the employees at Team Penske have that much faith in me means so much and that type of commitment really says a lot about this team and this organization.”

Crew chief Todd Gordon’s contract has also been extended for the duration of the 26-year-old’s tenure.

Three-time Indianapolis 500 champion Helio Castroneves will also benefit from the announcement in IndyCar, representing Shell and Pennzoil for his sixth-straight season. Castroneves will search for his fourth Indianapolis victory with sponsorship from Shell V-Power NiTRO+ on his No. 3 Chevrolet in the 101st Running of the Indianapolis 500.

The announcement will also see Shell and Pennzoil as the preferred supplier of fuels, lubricants and related products to the Penske organization for the foreseeable future.

“Transportation and technology are what keep the world moving. Our alliance with Penske spans most of our downstream businesses and allows us to use the motorsport arena to test and develop more advanced products for the road,” Bruce Culpepper, president of Shell Oil Company said. “Penske runs one of the most successful transportation businesses in the world and has a presence in many key countries with Shell operations. This alliance simply makes good business sense as we now do business together in the U.S., Canada, Germany, UK, Italy and Australia.”
