BROOKLYN, Mich. – In the final practice before his latest attempt to win on his home track, Brad Keselowski led the way for the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series at Michigan International Speedway.

The 2012 Cup Series champion laid down a 197.401-mph lap to top the last practice session for the field ahead of Sunday’s FireKeepers Casino 400.

For the second-straight session, Kyle Busch found himself second when the checkered flag flew, trailing Keselowski by just .038 seconds with a 197.195-mph circuit. Kyle Larson, Joey Logano and Erik Jones completed the top five, with Daniel Suarez, Martin Truex, Jr., Clint Bowyer, Jimmie Johnson and Denny Hamlin rounding out the top 10.

Larson led the way for the 19 drivers that completed 10 or more consecutive laps, completing a 10-lap stint with an average speed of 195.416 mph. Hamlin, Kevin Harvick, Keselowski and Ryan Blaney completed the top five.

In their final opportunity for track time ahead of Sunday’s 400-mile event, the majority of the field set their quickest laps in the first half hour on-track.

Johnson was among those to set laps early, completing his first laps of the weekend in his backup car after crashing his primary No. 48 Chevrolet for the weekend in Saturday’s first practice session. The El Cajon, California native completed 20 laps on the day, with a 196.260-mph circuit serving as his best speed in the session. He’ll start at the tail-end of the field due to the vehicle switch.

However, Johnson likely won’t be alone.

In the final moments of practice, A.J. Allmendinger lost control of his No. 47 Chevrolet while maneuvering his way through Turns 1 and 2, washing up the race track and making significant contact with the two-mile oval’s outside wall.

Coming in the final seconds, Allmendinger’s wreck brought an end to the session.

The Cup Series field will return on Sunday for the FireKeeper’s Casino 400. Coverage begins at 3 p.m. ET on FOX Sports 1.
