Forget the renderings, the 2018 Verizon IndyCar Series aero kit is here.

INDYCAR officially unveiled the 2018 Dallara universal aero kits on Monday with a video and a few images of the machines at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, where the kits will be tested by veterans Juan Pablo Montoya and Oriol Servia on Tuesday.

Montoya will test a Chevrolet for Team Penske, with Servia piloting a Honda-powered Schmidt Peterson Motorsports entry.

“The process started a year ago April, and we took the input of our fans, drivers, teams, manufacturers, partners – everyone shares in this,” INDYCAR president of competition and operations Jay Frye said in a release. ‘There is a historical component to this design, and it comes with a very forward look and all the latest components. Although the design looked good on paper it looks even better in person. We couldn’t be more excited to get this car on the track.”

The aero kits replaced the previous manufacturer-specific kits released in 2015. The kits work in unison with the Dallara DW12 chassis, which has been in use since 2012.

“2017 marks our 20th year in INDYCAR and we are glad that we can keep contributing to the great success that this series deserves,” Dallara Automobili founder and president Giampaolo Dallara said. “We have been working with the series’ organization and the teams to reach this shared goal, and this day represents an extraordinary step forward to achieve it.”

The kits will be tested for each of the four track types that the VICS competes on, beginning with the 2.5-mile Indianapolis superspeedway on Tuesday. Additional tests will be held at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course (road course) on Aug. 1, Iowa Speedway (short oval) on Aug. 10 and Sebring International Raceway on Sept. 26, where the track will serve as a street-course simulation with brake and cooling testing.

Per the release, kits will be distributed to teams in November.
