As Dale Earnhardt, Jr. races for the final time in the Bass Pro Shops NRA Night Race from Bristol Motor Speedway (BMS), BMS began the work to find a way to honor the retiring driver.

On Thursday, BMS announced a scholarship for students looking to be in the automotive speedway and an “It’s Bristol, Baby!” interactive sign, a phrase that Earnhardt coined in August 2004 after he scored his first victory in the night race.

After the searching through his social media, BMS saw that Earnhardt had a former career as an automotive service mechanic. The scholarship will award $2,088 annually to one high school student in Sullivan County, Tennessee. In order to receive the scholarship, students must have completed at least two automotive technology or similar course in high school.

“That is what I’m talking about man.  That is awesome.  Man, that is awesome.  I appreciate the track and especially what that will do for some individual and doing it annually.  Wow!  That is going to be pretty neat.  Hopefully, the guys and girls who get that opportunity take advantage of it.  I appreciate that,” said Earnhardt.

The scholarship wasn’t enough. BMS also dedicated an interactive monument with the words, “It’s Bristol, Baby!” in the fan zone at the speedway. The sign will allow fans to take part in the track’s tributes to Earnhardt. The display is located near the iconic Bristol Tower.

Throughout the race weekend, BMS has a “Dale Jr. Moments Museum” that showcases Earnhardt’s moments at the 0.533-mile concrete facility. BMS will have a special wrapped car outside the museum where fans can write their Earnhardt memories on. The car will be donated to the race car graveyard Earnhardt has at his home in North Carolina.

BMS invites fans, while on the property, to share their social content with the track’s social media outlets using #ItsBristolBaby
