Dale Earnahardt Jr. has the opportunity to wear the infamous visor cam during Sunday’s Alabama 500 at Talladega Superspeedway, but there is a catch.

If Earnhardt does not get the camera to fit the way he would like, he will not run the camera. During the only two practice session’s of the weekend, he was unable to get the camera placed properly on his visor. He will run the camera during Cup qualifying tomorrow, if he is unable to fix the issues, he will not run the camera on Sunday.

“It adds a little weight to the helmet and we’re working on the visor to fix and correct some visibility issues with the mirror and other things. I’m hoping to run it. We’re making adjustments on it now. I’m hoping to run it again tomorrow in qualifying. But if I can’t get it to where I can see, I’m not going to race it,” said Earnhardt.

The main reason he will be wearing the camera this weekend at Talladega is to prepare for next season, if NBC uses the camera again.

After some adjusting the camera on his helmet after his media availability, Earnhardt went to Twitter to say that he will not be using the helmet cam because “It obstructs my view of the corner and the rear view mirror too much.”

Although he is unable to use it this weekend at Talladega, his team will be working with NBC to use the camera in the future  before his final race at Homestead-Miami Speedway.
