Matt Tifft, Erik Jones Pace XFINITY Series Practice Sessions Friday at Kansas Speedway

KANSAS CITY, Kan. — As the Round of 8 comes to a close this weekend at Kansas Speedway for the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series, it is only just beginning for the XFINITY Series drivers. The remaining eight championship contenders will compete in Saturday’s Kansas Lottery 300.

The series had two practice sessions on Friday afternoon in preparation for qualifying and the race tomorrow. In the first session, playoff contender Matt Tifft was fastest with a time of 30.348 seconds at 177.936 mph. MENCS playoff contender Ryan Blaney and rookie Erik Jones were second and third, respectively. Austin Dillon and Tyler Reddick rounded out the top five.

Jones continued to show speed in final practice, pacing the field with a time of 30.476 sec at 177.189 mph. Blaney, series regular Ryan Sieg, Reddick and playoff contender Elliott Sadler rounded out the top five.

NXS qualifying begins Saturday, October 21 at 11:05AM CT. The Kansas Lottery 300 is a 200 lap race and will begin at 2:00PM CT.
