KANSAS CITY, Kan. — While nothing in life is ever guaranteed, Saturday’s Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series practice sessions may have provided a glimpse of who to keep an eye on this Sunday from Kansas Speedway.

One of the championship favorites, Kyle Larson, was fastest in the first of two practice sessions with a time of 29.724 seconds at 181.671 mph. Playoff driver Kevin Harvick was second quickest followed by rookie Daniel Suarez. Paul Menard showed some speed by putting up the fourth quickest lap, while Kansas native Clint Bowyer rounded out the top five.

In the second and final practice session of the weekend for the series, Ryan Blaney, whose qualifying time was disallowed on Friday, was quickest with a time of 29.661 seconds at 182.057 mph. Kyle Busch, who is currently below the cutoff line to move onto the Round of 8, was second quickest.

Harvick, Suarez, and Matt Kenseth, who is also below the cutoff line, rounded out the top five.

The Hollywood Casino 400 will go green at 3PM ET on October 22, 2017.
