With 2018 drawing near, another racing series has released their schedule.

NASCAR officials unveiled the 2018 K&N Pro Series East (KNPSE) schedule on Wednesday, showcasing a host of races at historic east coast tracks and a new companion weekend with the K&N Pro Series West (KNPSW).

The upcoming KNPSE season is set at 14 races, beginning on Feb. 11 at New Smyrna Speedway during the 52nd Annual World Series of Stock Car Racing and running for eight months before the tour crowns their champion at Dover International Speedway on Oct. 5.

The middle section of the schedule will see the KNPSE contest twin 100-lap features at South Boston Speedway on May 12, and run two events in conjunction with the KNPSW – the traditional July 27 race at Iowa Speedway and a new companion race at Gateway Motorsports Park during the track’s Verizon IndyCar Series race weekend on Aug. 24.

While it doesn’t get the coverage or recognition of NASCAR’s three national series, the KNPSE as a strong recent history of graduates making the leap to the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series. In 2018 William Byron, Alex Bowman and Darrell Wallace Jr. will join a list of KNPSE graduates running full-time in Cup that includes Daytona 500 winners Joey Logano and Trevor Bayne, XFINITY Series champions Daniel Suarez and Austin Dillon, and 2017 playoff contenders Kyle Larson and Ryan Blaney.

“Over the last decade, we’ve seen the NASCAR K&N Pro Series transform into the primary developmental series for our next generation of Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series stars,” Jim Cassidy, NASCAR senior vice president of racing operations, said in a release. “The 2018 schedule is designed to provide a proving ground for the next crop of young drivers looking to make their mark on our sport.”

The KNPSE will share four race weekends with the Cup Series, including Bristol Motor Speedway (Apr. 14), New Hampshire Motor Speedway (July 21), Watkins Glen International (Aug. 3) and Dover (Oct. 5). The tour will also take part of a new triple-header race day at New Hampshire on Sept. 22, running along with the Whelen Modified Tour and Pinty’s Series.
