With 2017 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series playoff participant Kaz Grala set to complete his first XFINITY Series season next year, JGL Racing is bringing on an experienced signal caller to help the prospect find success.

JGL announced on Thursday that veteran crew chief Shane Wilson will join the organization in 2018, working with Grala on the No. 24 Ford Mustang team. The group will work in a technical alliance with Roush Fenway Racing.

Former crew chief Steven Lane will stay within the organization, transitioning to a leadership role as a Team Manager and Competition Director.

“The addition of a talented and experienced crew chief such as Shane is great for our entire organization,” JGL Racing owner James Whitener said in a release. “We continue to build our program and it is crucial for us to add personnel such as Shane. This move also allows us to shift Steven Lane to a bigger leadership position which we feel only makes our program stronger.”

Wilson arrives at Ford and JGL after a four-year tenure with Brendan Gaughan and Richard Childress Racing. The pairing earned two victories, 11 top fives and 45 top 10s in their time together, making the XFINITY Series playoffs in both 2016 and ’17.

Overall Wilson has a combined 27 race wins and 200 top-10 finishes during his 17-year crew chief career in NASCAR’s three national series, including two wins in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series with Clint Bowyer.

“I am excited to join JGL Racing,” Wilson said. “They have been improving their performance each year since they started racing in the XFINITY Series.”

The announced addition of Wilson completes the core of the No. 24 team. JGL is currently in the process of finalizing plans for their second No. 28 team to complete their 2018 lineup.
