Two months after completing a 14-race debut stint with JGL Racing in 2017, Dylan Lupton is set to increase his schedule for 2018.

The organization announced Wednesday that Lupton, 24, will compete in a minimum of 21 NASCAR XFINITY Series races for them in 2018 as part of the team’s “Young Guns” program, which is designed with the intent of showcasing the sport’s growing stars.

Lupton will pilot the No. 28 Ford, joining 2017 Camping World Truck Series playoff contender Kaz Grala in the No. 24 Ford. The team made the move over to the Blue Ovals from Toyota at the end of 2017 after agreeing to form a technical alliance with Roush Fenway Racing.

“I am extremely happy we were able to put something together and have Dylan back with us for the 2018 season,” JGL Racing owner James Whitener said in a release..   “Dylan gained valuable experience in the 2017 season and went to many tracks for the first time, which will all help him in 2018.   Also, Dylan became a great fit with our team and really became a part of our family.

“We look forward to his continued growth and think he has some exciting times ahead of him in the No. 28 Ford.”

A native of Wilton, California, Lupton comes back to JGL with 24-career starts in the XFINITY Series, with a lone top 10 at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in 2015. The former NASCAR Next driver’s best performance thus far with JGL came at Richmond Raceway in April, where he finished 12th.

“I’m very excited to return to JGL Racing in 2018,” Lupton said.  “We continued to improve throughout the 2017 season and I was able to gain valuable experience that will help tremendously in the new season.

“With the switch to Ford over the off-season and our new alliance with Roush Fenway Racing, I am confident that we will be competitive right out of the gate. I would like to thank James Whitener and the whole JGL Racing organization for this opportunity.”

Additional details for the team – including sponsorship and crew chief pairings – will be announced at a later date.
