Cole Custer will be heading out to Las Vegas Motor Speedway next week for an organization test in a Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series for Go Fas Racing.

This will be Custer’s first time in a Cup car. He is excited to head out to Las Vegas next week and test.

“it’s going to be fun. It’s going to be a learning experience. There is a lot to learn, but good people around me. Hopefully, I can pick it up and learn as we go. We will see what happens.”

Custer would not comment on how the deal with Go Fas Racing came about to test the car. Custer is going to use this opportunity presented before him as a learning moment.

“This test is just an opportunity for me to go out there and learn to get better and get used to applying myself to a Cup car. As long as I can learn through the whole day, try to ask for some help and get better, I think it will be a successful test. I am looking forward to doing it. I think it will go good for us.”

There have been rumblings that Custer could be preparing himself for a Cup ride in the 2019 season at Stewart-Haas Racing. When asked, Custer would not say that a timeline is in place for that transition since his main focus is running for the 2018 XFINITY championship.

“There isn’t really a timeframe, honestly.  We’re just trying to get some experience and also trying to win this XFINITY championship, so however it plays out it plays out.  I think you just have to focus on what you’re doing and do the best you can.”

In his first season, Custer scored one win, eight top-fives and 21 top-10’s.
