Hailie Deegan continued her top-10 streak of 2020 at the ‘Tricky Triangle’ of Pocono Raceway on Friday evening, finishing seventh.

Deegan’s No. 4 Monster Ford Fusion for DGR Crosley rolled off in the same spot she would end up taking the checkered flag in, seventh.

Lap 22 brought out the first competition caution of the General Tire Anywhere is Possible 200 with Deegan’s Ford scored in the ninth position. During the break in racing, she came down pit road for four tires, fuel and an adjustment to tighten up her race car.

A second competition caution waved on lap 52 — Deegan’s No. 4 had moved into the top-five running order just prior to the caution.

However, with 10 laps to go in the 80-lap event, Deegan fell back to seventh and [ultimately] only a late race caution could’ve helped her catch back up to the front of the field.

Post-race in a DGR press release, Deegan said, “It was a solid finish for us and a good points race. I wish we could have had a caution late in the race, so I could have caught the leaders, but with the long green-flag run at the end, they were too far ahead to catch. I wish we could have finished in the top five. We’ll keep working on it and I’m excited to race at Lucas Oil Raceway next week. I think a short track will even up the playing field a bit.”

Deegan’s best finish of the season following The Tricky Triangle is a second-place finish at Daytona in February. She currently sits third in the driver points standings, 13 points behind first place.
