Dave Mader III Fastest in Final Day of Preseason Testing at Daytona; Greg Van Alst Fastest in Combined Speeds

Dave Mader III turned the fastest lap in Saturday’s final session of the 2022 ARCA Preseason Testing at Daytona. 

Mader turned a 49.874-second (180.455-mph) lap around the Daytona International Speedway to place his No. 63 on top of the speed charts. Mader, who finished second at Talladega last season, has four career starts at Daytona in the ARCA Menards Series. Mader finished 13th in Friday’s test session and finishes 13th fastest overall. 

Chuck Walker, who hasn’t made an ARCA Menards Series start since 2009, turned the second-fastest lap of the session with Young’s Motorsports. He was .041-seconds off of Mader’s time. 

Max Gutierrez, Lawless Alan, and Christian Rose rounded out the top-five in speeds on Saturday. 

36 drivers turned at least one lap during Saturday’s session. Michael Lira, son of former ARCA car owner Carlos Lira, turned the most laps of the session with 40. A total of seven drivers turned at least 30 laps during Saturday’s session.

Former television star Frankie Muniz from the television show Malcolm in the Middle tested on Saturday. Muniz turned a 51.796-second lap around the Daytona International Speedway to finish 30th in the session.  Muniz is looking to make moves towards making his ARCA Menards Series debut at some point.

With Saturday’s session taking the checkered flag, the 2022 ARCA Preseason Test has come to a close. 

Greg Van Alst turned the fastest lap during the two sessions and leaves Daytona with some bragging rights before returning next month. 

John Ferrier finished the weekend in second while Daniel Dye, Willie Mullins, and Toni Breidinger rounded out the top-five in overall speeds of the weekend. 

The ARCA Menards Series will kick off its 2022 season from the Daytona International Speedway on February 19th alongside the NASCAR Xfinity Series. Tickets for the Lucas Oil 200 Driven by General Tire at Daytona starts at just $49 and can be purchased by clicking here
