David Ragan is returning to the NASCAR Cup Series, for one race anyways. Ragan will compete in the Daytona 500 for Rick Ware Racing.

Ragan who retired from full-time NASCAR competition following the 2019 season will pilot the No. 36 Ford Mustang in the season opener on February 16.

Ragan’s No. 36 will be sponsored by Select Blinds and Speedy Cash.

As some may remember, the No. 36 was previously an entry fielded by Front Row Motorsports which has since scaled back to two-full time teams at the Cup level.

Front Row Motorsports is the same team Ragan raced for on a couple different occasions in his Cup career but most recently from 2017 through 2019.

Ragan has two wins at NASCAR’s elite level, both coming on the superspeedways of Daytona International Speedway and Talladega Superspeedway.

Ragan won the 2011 July race at Daytona when he was with the Roush Fenway Racing with his most recent win coming in 2013 when he won the Spring race at Talladega, the first Cup win for Front Row Motorsports.

The Georgia native joins JJ Yeley and Joey Gase who were previously announced as Rick Ware Racing’s full-time drivers for 2020.

The NASCAR Cup Series season opener Daytona 500 will take place on Sunday February 16 at 2:30 p.m. ET live on Fox.
