SONOMA, Ca. – Coming off a winning pick last week, I am feeling pretty confident bettin’ my trio of bets this weekend at Sonoma Raceway. And, the WynnBET Sportsbook oddsmakers have been overly nice this week with setting the lines on NASCAR drivers.
Last week, Joey Logano was a respectable +850 or 8.5 to 1, but even though he is +1900 or 19-to-1 to win and +165 or 1.65-to-1 in a head-to-head matchup, I am going with the uber-favorite in that matchup and the fourth favorite overall in the race day line. Who is that? Kyle Busch.
Busch is sitting at an incredible +1100 or 11-to-1 to win at Sonoma and he is -2.0 to win over Logano. This is definitely not a sleight to the No. 22 team and Logano has a win here in the NASCAR K&N Series in 2011 but after Busch’s dominating performance in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race, he is smart money. With the truck win and two trips here to Cup Series Victory Lane already, history is also on his side.
As for my weekly mid-tier value pick, I am going with Martin Truex Jr. For those who don’t know, or who have been visiting too many of the Sonoma-area wineries, Truex has a secret weapon in the pits this week. The team brought in former crew chief turned resort owner and Twitter extraordinaire, Cole Pearn, to help out this week.
The WynnBET oddsmakers have Truex at +1800 or 18-to-1, so if you want a solid bet with strong odds, Truex is the right driver.
Honestly, I am a little shocked at the odds this week but who am I to question it. I am telling you now, take advantage of it. Either one of these two drivers could bring huge rewards.
As for my longshot pick this week, I am going with Alex Bowman at 40-to-1. In the truck race, Bowman was busted with a penalty and that ruined his day. Before that Bowman was at the front of the field. Could he have run down Busch, who knows, but I think it would have been a great show trying to watch him do it.
Regardless, at +4000 or 40-to-1, I know it’s a little bit of a risk but I like Bowman. He was even my fantasy pick at KickinTheTires.net.
Remember, my suggestions are based on what I see at the track and from past performances by drivers. It’s called gambling for a reason and there is no guarantee the drivers I pick will end up in victory lane. If you can’t afford to bet, then don’t. And if you aren’t 21 years of age, you cannot legally gamble, so don’t even think about it. Should you have a problem with sports betting or other forms of gaming, you can get help at 1-800-GAMBLER.
