Veteran motorsports executive Don Hawk has been appointed as the new director of the Silver Crown Series by United States Auto Club (USAC) Racing.
Hawk most recently headed the Superstar Racing Experience (SRX). The event operations and motorsports management veteran has a combined 33 years of experience that he brings to USAC’s Silver Crown Division. In addition to SRX, Hawk has worked at Dale Earnhardt Inc., NASCAR, and Speedway Motorsports, Inc. in several capacities.
The 33 years of experience will allow Hawk to help develop the talent competing in the Silver Crown Division. Several NASCAR stars including Jeff Gordon, Ryan Newman, and Tony Stewart started in the historic division. In keeping the series’ tradition alive, Hawk plans to enhance the current competition by working with those in the division.
“I am honored to join USAC Racing as the Series Director for the Silver Crown Division,” Hawk said. “This series has a rich heritage, incredible talent and dedicated fans. I look forward to working alongside the teams, officials, Technical Director Tommie Estes and everyone in the USAC family to enhance the competition and continue to build the excitement that makes Silver Crown racing so special.”
Hawk’s experience will also come into play with Silver Crown’s historic schedule. Between SRX and Speedway Motorsports, he worked with both dirt and paved tracks, as well as long-distance events, which Silver Crown has continued for decades. Striking that important balance of enhancing an existing and historic product is what Hawk has excelled out for over three decades.
With that reputation, Kevin Miller, President and CEO of USAC Racing, expressed confidence in Hawk’s ability to lead the division.
“Don’s experience, integrity, and forward-thinking approach make him an excellent fit for this role,” Miller said. “We are thrilled to have him on board and are excited about the leadership he will bring to one of the most iconic divisions in motorsports.”
