Joey Logano made the biggest move in the NASCAR Cup Series standings after Richmond, jumping four positions from 13th to ninth while adding 73 points, the largest points gain among the drivers in the top 20.
His win moved him from 586 points entering Richmond to 659, putting the three-time champion firmly inside the top 10 with two regular-season races remaining.
Besides him, there were quite a few drivers who had their positions hampered in the standings table after the race.
Biggest Losers
Carson Hocevar:
The biggest positional drop came from Carson Hocevar, who fell three spots from eighth to 11th. Hocevar entered the Virginia racetrack eighth with 644 points but finished 25th, leaving him with 645 points and almost no movement in his points total despite losing significant ground in the standings.
Ty Gibbs:
Ty Gibbs surrendered one position, dropping from second to third. His 842 points still leave him comfortably inside the top three, but Ryan Blaney’s strong Saturday night finish allowed the Team Penske driver to move ahead of him.
Christopher Bell:
Christopher Bell also slipped one spot, going from sixth to seventh despite finishing P7 at Richmond, collecting 36 points overall, and leading 29 laps.
William Byron:
Meanwhile, William Byron dropped from 11th to 12th. Byron still collected 30 points at the 0.750 mile track by finishing ninth, but the results around him were enough to move him down one place.
Shane van Gisbergen:
SVG rounded out the positional losers among the top 20, falling one spot from 15th to 16th. His 14th-place Richmond finish left him with 567 points, but Austin Cindric’s podium result allowed the Team Penske driver to move ahead of him.
Biggest Gainers
Kyle Larson:
Behind Logano, Kyle Larson made the next biggest positional jump, climbing two places from 10th to eighth after finishing sixth at Richmond.
His 31-point haul moved him to 660 points and restored him to the top eight after a difficult stretch. While his season has not gone the way he would have expected, and he has not even locked himself into the Chase 2026 unlike his teammate Chase Elliott, the gain was definitely big.
Ryan Blaney:
Ryan Blaney gained one position, moving from third to second with 854 points. His 13th-place finish with 41 points was enough to overtake Gibbs, despite the No. 12 Ford entering Richmond behind the JGR driver in the standings.
Chase Elliott:
Chase Elliott also gained one spot, rising from seventh to sixth after finishing fifth at Richmond. He now sits level on 695 points with Bell, with the tiebreaker placing Elliott ahead.
Austin Cindric:
The final major mover was Austin Cindric, who climbed one position from 16th to 15th after his third-place finish. His 48-point gain gave him 574 points and increased his cushion over Ryan Preece, who remains 17th.
