LAS VEGAS, Nev. – Under the bright lights of Las Vegas inside T-Mobile Arena, the Carolina Cowboys never flinched, delivering a dominant 4-for-4 performance across three days of competition, including the third perfect post-season game in league history and a thrilling overtime win, to be crowned the 2025 PBR Teams World Champions.
While the World Championship campaign was a team effort, the Cowboys were led by North Carolina’s own Clay Guiton who went a perfect 5-for-5 to also collect the PBR Camping World Team Series Championship MVP title.
The Carolina Cowboys travelled to Las Vegas ranked No. 5 in the league, set to take on the No. 6 Nashville Stampede in the opening round of the post season. Setting the tone for their post season run early, Carolina downed the Stampede with ease, 433.25-261.
The 5-for-5 showing, achieved by qualified rides from Cooper Davis, Adriano Salgado, Clay Guiton, Jess Lockwood and Derek Kolbaba was the Cowboy’s third perfect game in team history, and their first of the 2025 season.
In the Quarterfinals, the Cowboys then readied to settle unfinished business from 2024 as they setout to play the No. 2 Austin Gamblers, the very team they lost to in the Championship Game last season.
Determined, the Cowboys fought back in the final three frames of the game to delivered one of the tournament’s top upsets, thrashing the Gamblers 258.75-86.5.
As Championship Sunday got underway, Carolina faced off against the No. 4 Arizona Ridge Riders in the Semifinals. Davis and Guiton both delivered early in the game, but after a crucial score from Arizona’s closer the game was tied at the end of regulation.
Sent into overtime, Head Coach Jerome Davis and Assistant Coach Robson Palermo quickly tapped Guiton to attempt the team’s final bull. A crucial 88-point score from Guiton, coupled by a buckoff from Arizona, advanced Carolina back to the Championship Game for the second consecutive season.
The 2025 season then came down to five outs against the No. 7 Missouri Thunder who delivered a Cinderella run of their own to reach the title game. In the game’s opening frame, Head Coach Davis made a gutsy call in the bottom of the first, as he and Davis declined a re-ride option to accept a 68.25-point score aboard Snap Chatter.
The call proved to be the difference maker in the 64.75-point victory. As the game progressed, Salgado scored 87.5 points in Carolina’s second out against J Lady S. Guiton then lasted the 8 on El Chapo for 86.75 points, capping a perfect 5-for-5 weekend.
When the dust settled, Carolina won by one ride score, 242.5-177.75 to be crowned the 2025 PBR Teams World Champions.
