There have been plenty of throwback schemes released recently for this Sunday’s Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series Bojangles Southern 500 from Darlington Raceway. The same goes for the 00 Chevrolet that Landon Cassill will pilot. StarCom Racing announced yesterday that they will honor veteran NASCAR driver, Sterling Marlin in a special scheme.

Throughout Marlin’s 33-year Cup career he amassed 10 wins in NASCAR’s premiere series, 83 Top-5s, 216 Top-10s and 11 pole awards.

Cassill’s No. 00 will commemorate Marlin’s No. 40 Coors Light Dodge that Marlin drove to his last victory in the 2002 Carolina Dodge Dealers 400 at Darlington.

“So cool Landon is running that scheme. I’ve always thought that was one of the prettiest cars out there and was my favorite scheme to run. It’s great they teamed up with the Fox Foundation as well. Give’em Hell Landon!”, said Marlin.

Furthermore, the team announced it welcomes the Michael J. Fox Foundation on board the 00 for the race well.

Founded in 2002 by actor Michael J. Fox it has become the largest non-profit funder for Parkinson’s disease research in the world.

The foundation is dedicated to finding a cure for Parkinson’s disease through research as well as the development of improved therapies for those living with the disease today.

The team will donate $5 from every t-shirt purchased to the foundation. Shirts can be purchased at the following link.

Marlin made it public in 2012 that he had been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. However, that hasn’t stopped the 62-year old Tennessee native from racing.

Marlin will be back behind the wheel of his No. 14 late model Chevrolet this weekend at Nashville Speedway where he’s only two wins away from becoming the winningest driver at the track.

As for Landon Cassill, in eight MENCS starts at the track labeled “Too Tough to Tame”, the Iowa native has a best career finish of 20th in 2015.

In 2019 thus far, Cassill’s best finish is 11th coming at Daytona International Speedway in July’s Coke Zero Sugar 400.
