The potential threat of severe weather and flooding from Tropical Storm Debby has forced Richmond Raceway to cancel multiple pre-race events in the lead up to the Cook Out 400 race weekend.
The tropical storm is currently forecast to move through the Richmond, VA area on Friday. With the potential of several inches of rain from the storm, NASCAR and Richmond Raceway have opted to cancel several events in the interest of safety.
Among the events on Thursday and Friday that were cancelled by the track were NASCAR Pacing Budweiser Clydesdales in Carytown, Camper Welcome Party, American Marketing Association Beyond NASCAR Panel, Speediatrics Fun Day Festival, and Lori’s Lemonade.
Track Laps for Charity benefiting the Autism Society of Central Virginia and Richmond Raceway Cares which was scheduled for Wednesday, Aug. 7 has been postponed. A new date will be announced in the coming weeks.
The Finish Line Party at Q-Rooftop AddedBar at Quirk Hotel scheduled for Friday, Aug. 9 at 5:00 p.m. ET is still currently scheduled to take place. All pre-race activities on Saturday and Sunday are also currently scheduled to happen as initially planned.
Fans attending the races may be rerouted due to the impacts from the projected rainfall from Tropical Storm Debby.
