With 12 laps left to run in Sunday’s race at Naval Base Coronado, when Corey Heim sent the No. 77 of Carson Hocevar spinning through that final chicane, a bus stop, fans went straight back to the 2023 NASCAR Truck Series Championship race, when Carson Hocevar spun out Corey Heim. The two have not seen eye to eye since that day, and going by the look of things, they are no closer to burying the hatchet anytime soon.

Neither man cared to chew over the incident once the race was over on Sunday, but Corey Heim hit back at a fan on Twitter by turning Carson Hocevar’s own words on him. The fan wrote, “Had to spin out Hocevar to win it. #77 will remember.”

In return, Heim, who won the San Diego race on Sunday, on his X account, fired back at that post with a clip of Carson Hocevar from an older interview, where the Spire Motorsports driver could be heard saying, “Well, just get the (expletive) out of the way, and there wouldn’t be a wreck, you know what I mean? Just move. Just move out of the way.”

Hocevar, giving the man his due, answered Corey Heim’s post with nothing more than a photo of Dexter parked in a chair. The finale of the series fell flat, so does that mean this rivalry is set to go the same way? If Hocevar’s latest sit-down with Dirty Mo Media is anything to go by, the bad blood looks set to roll on.

He said, “I felt like that was four years coming-ish, and I was like, all right, fair. I mean, obviously, he is very good, and I’m looking forward to racing his a** off for 20 years. I do enjoy racing him on the truck side. I remember Texas, I looked down pit road to look at the Tricon trucks, and I looked over, and I wanted to see who was in the one this week.”

“And I was like, ah, it’s not him. I was like, okay, we’ll win. I think the Tricon trucks are probably the best trucks, but he’s definitely by far the best at taking advantage of them. But also, too, I probably would have been more like, damn it, other places. But road course, I was like, I was just happy. I was fast. I was just happy. I was enjoying it and everything. I was just pumped that we were fast.”

Hocevar did own up, though, to going to Denny Hamlin for Corey Heim’s number. On his own podcast, Actions Detrimental, Hamlin said,

“Carson Hocevar texted me right after the race, says, ‘Hey, can you send me Corey’s number?’ I thought, ‘Oh, that’s nice of him, he wants to congratulate him.’ I had no idea that he’d spun him out.”

And Hamlin passed along Heim’s number. But of course, seeing as the two drivers are still wet behind the ears and look set to stick around in the game for the long haul, this new rivalry in the Cup Series will be one for the fans to keep their eyes on.
