As the calendar has turned to the month of July, the plans for the Fourth of July have intensified across the United States of America.

For NASCAR drivers, the turn of the calendar month means that it is time to return to Daytona International Speedway to unofficially kick off the second half of the NASCAR season. With July 4 falling on a Wednesday this year, Fourth of July will look a little bit different this year for some drivers.

For Kyle Larson and Christopher Bell, the holiday “week” began shortly after the checkered flag flew at Chicagoland Speedway. Leading up to the holiday, both drivers will be participating in dirt track races across the state of Pennsylvania.

As the July 4 arrives, Larson will be home with his fiancé, Katelyn Sweet, and his two kids.

“I don’t really know what I’m going to do on the Fourth of July, probably just hang out with Katelyn and the kids and do whatever, maybe go on the lake or go to the pool or whatever.  Just spend some time at home before I have to leave for Daytona,” Larson said.

Due to NASCAR scheduling, NASCAR Xfinity Series teams will have initial race weekend inspection on the afternoon of July 4. Bell will be at the World Center of Racing during the afternoon.

“The way the schedule is I got to be in Daytona, so the Xfinity teams are going to be working on the Fourth of July. I think they garage opens sometime that day, so that’s where I’ll be, but we’re going to be racing before that,” Bell said.

For Kevin Harvick, there are numerous things going on from Delana and Keelan’s birthday, his radio show and other obligations. The Fourth of July will be a day of laying low.

“I look at Wednesday as a day off. That is always good at our house. We will probably just lay low and watch the fireworks from the back porch and that will probably be about it,” Harvick said.

Despite the different activities, everyone will be enjoying a day of celebrating the independence and freedom of the United States of America.
