Brenden ‘Butterbean’ Queen wins Atlas 150 at Iowa

NEWTON, Iowa (Aug. 1, 2025) – For one night, at least, Brenden Queen turned Iowa’s corn country into the new home of Bean Nation.

In front of a tremendous crowd at Iowa Speedway, the driver known as “Butterbean” won the ARCA Menards Series’ Atlas 150 by holding off archrival Brent Crews and endearing himself to a growing list of followers sprouting up from coast to coast.

It was Queen’s fifth win of the season, but it didn’t come easy as he started the race second his behind Crews. The two drivers were the class of the field and nearly wrecked each other while racing for the lead with six laps left.

But it was Queen who came out on top, as his Chevrolet survived a last-lap challenge from Crews’ Toyota and crossed the finish line less than half-a-second ahead.

“These are the battles we’re going to look back on and say they were fun,” said Queen, a short-track ace from Virginia whose leaving his mark this season in the ARCA Menards Series. “With six to go, we went for the same spot and we were driving the wheels off not to wreck. I’m happy we came out on top.”

Lawless Alan, Isabella Robusto and Lavar Scott rounded out the top five in the opening race of an exciting weekend of racing at Iowa Speedway. Action continues Saturday with the NASCAR Xfinity Series’ Hy-Vee Perks 250 and NASCAR Cup Series practice and qualifying.

And then on Sunday, Aug. 3, the stars of the NASCAR Cup Series compete in the Iowa Corn 350 Powered by Ethanol, which will be preceded by a Busch Light Summer Music Series performance by country music star Corey Kent.
