At times this season Chad Finchum and his MBM Motorsports team haven’t had the best of luck in the NASCAR Xfinity Series.

From mechanical complications ranging from brakes, to engine woes, axel and gear issues and even a crash a few weeks ago at Pocono Raceway, it seems as if the team has seen it all.

The small team has seen it all though, including solid finishes and a season best 19th that came at ISM Raceway (Phoenix) earlier in the season.

When compared to where they were at this same time in 2018 when the series was headed to Chicagoland Speedway, they’ve drastically improved as a team.

Last season, Finchum had added just one top-25 finish to his racing resume, a 25th place result at Dover before heading to the 1.5-mile track located in Joliet, Illinois.

Fast forward to 2019.

The Knoxville, Tennessee native has captured two top-20 finishes and six top-25 finishes heading into this Saturday’s Camping World 300.

The young driver acknowledged the improvements made as well.

“I definitely think this year has been a better year for not only me but MBM as a whole. We have had pretty strong race cars week in and week out.”

Finchum will set his sights on his third top-25 finish in a row after finishes of 22nd at Michigan and 21st at Iowa.

Finchum told Kickin’ The Tires, “I look forward to seeing what we can do at Chicagoland this weekend. We have had some ups and downs this year just like anyone, but we have shown we can overcome those obstacles and I’m hoping for another top-25 this weekend.”

The 24-year old’s best chance to capture his first victory in the Xfinity Series may come when the series visits Daytona International Speedway in about a week for the Circle K Firecracker 250 Powered by Coca-Cola.

The track located in Daytona Beach; Florida is the site of Finchum’s best NXS finish which he earned in the July race last season.

“With Daytona on the horizon, I can’t wait to get back there. I had my best finish there last year at P14 and I really want to see if we can top that”, Finchum said.
