SPEEDWAY, In. – As cars came down pit road for a competition caution at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, chaos ensued when it appears someone got into the back of the No. 37 car – sending cars in multiple directions.

The crash also resulted in one of the cars careening into Zach Price, a tire changer on the No. 12 car driven by Ryan Blaney. There was considerable door damage to Blaney’s car and somehow Price was able to scramble on the ground and get out of the way.

Those involved in the crash were Justin Allgaier, who is filling in after Jimmie Johnson was sidelined due to a positive Coronavirus test, Chirs Buescher, Corey Lajoie, Ryan Preece and Ricky Stenhouse Jr.

Smith was taken to the infield care center by ambulance but gave a thumbs-up and was all smiles as he was wheeled away. It was later announced by NASCAR that he was taken to an area hospital in Indianapolis for further evaluation.
