Following a harsh blow in Sunday’s Xfinity Series race that left driver Justin Haley winded, Justin Allgaier will substitute his ride in the Sunday Cup race.
Allgaier will drive Haley’s No. 77 Chevrolet for Spire Motorsports, the car Haley has piloted in 14 races in 2021. For Allgaier, it will be the veteran’s 78th career Cup start and his first since subbing for Jimmie Johnson in the 2020 Brickyard 400.
“[Haley] just felt like it was the best option,” Allgaier said. “Hopefully he can get comfortable — it was a heavy hit in the Xfinity race. Spire Motorsports did a great job of getting me comfortable. I’m gonna have to do some remembering.”
Haley, though uninjured in his hard Xfinity hit, will sit out the race in the stay on the side of safety.

I hope Justin Haley will be just fine
