Kyle Busch was an unhappy driver following 400 miles at Dover International Speedway.
Finishing 10th in the Gander RV 400 on Monday, the driver of the No. 18 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota let his opinion known when asked about the 2019 aero package’s effect on the racing at Dover.
“The package sucks, no fucking question about it. It’s terrible,” Busch said. “All I can do is bitch about it, fall on deaf ears and we’ll come back with the same thing in the fall.”
Hitting the wall at the start of the final stage with 150 laps remaining, Busch lost ground, managing only 10th.
“We thought we were off as a program but obviously, the No. 19 [Martin Truex Jr.] won the race. So, that’s not the case,” he said. “We were probably going to end up around eighth and then I got into the wall at the start of the last stage. Junk after that. One-out-of-10, probably an eight bad.”
Despite the contact, 10th pace extends Busch’s top-10 streak to start the season, now 11 straight heading into Kansas Speedway in next weekend. To no surprise, the 2015 champion wants more.
“It’d be nice to win more, to run better. It’d be nice to lead laps,” he said. “When you run better, at least you can have something to hang your hat on. This was a real bad weekend for us.”
