CONCORD, N.C. – Heading into Saturday afternoon’s Drive for the Cure 250 from Charlotte Motor Speedway’s road course configuration known as the Roval, NASCAR driver Brandon Jones hadn’t finished worse than 11th in the series past four events.

The day started out promising for the 22-year old Georgia native when he started the 28th event of the year in 15th.

Jones quickly worked his way into the Top-10, finishing Stage 1 in the 8th position and following that up with a 6th place result at the end of Stage 2.

What looked to be a solid Top-10 finish took a nose dive as the race wound down in NASCAR’s own backyard in Concord, North Carolina as Jones did a 360-degree spin but was able to continue on and finish the race.

Ultimately, Jones found himself crossing the finish line with a 16th place finish instead of what was sure to be a Top-10 if he had been able to avoid late race troubles.

Furthermore, Jones finds himself just below the playoff cutline in the 9th position heading into Dover International Speedway next weekend.

“It’s frustrating man I’m getting used up all year along. Kind of getting sick of it. We had a great run, this is a huge improvement from last year coming to this track. Had a really good car, had some really good stages, so that was exciting to have with Juniper on the car, had a decent run going for us.”, said Jones post-race.

“I don’t know, I think we’ll be fine in Dover. I think we’ll have a strong run there. A lot of the cars that beat us today won’t be in contention that race, so I’m looking forward to getting there. This is going to be a tough one for me but we overcame a lot of obstacles and ended up having an okay day.”
