BRISTOL, Tenn – The day didn’t start off well for Kevin Harvick at Bristol Motor Speedway as the No. 4 Stewart-Haas Racing machine of Kevin Harvick struggled to get through pre-race inspection – failing three times before finally rolling out to the grid.

As the penalties continued to mount – his engineer was rejected, he will drop to the trail end of the field, serve a pass-through penalty under green at the beginning of the race and he loses 30-minutes of practice next week at Richmond Raceway.

It was the first time NASCAR has had a car fail pre-race inspection this many times since implementing its more stringent rules earlier in the season. The car was deemed legal on its fourth attempt at pre-race inspection.
