BROOKLYN, Mich. — The 2019 Firekeepers Casino 400 at Michigan International Speedway has been postponed due to Monday at 5:00 p.m. EDT due to rain that persisted throughout the afternoon. Monday’s postponed race will be televised live on FS1 and broadcasted over the airwaves on the Motor Racing Network.
The rain delayed the start of the race, but eventually stopped which gave NASCAR an opportunity to get the race going. But when the field was given the one-to-go signal, the skies opened up and a steady light rain persisted throughout the afternoon, which ultimately forced NASCAR to postpone the event.
Ford took four of the top five starting positions, with Joey Logano claiming the top spot. Aric Almirola will start second, followed by Kevin Harvick and Denny Hamlin in fourth. Clint Bowyer, last year’s winner, will start fifth.
2019 FireKeepers Casino 400 Starting Lineup
The FireKeepers Casino 400 is the second Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race this season to be postponed until the next day due to weather. Earlier this year, a similar situation occurred at Dover International Speedway where rain started during the pace laps and forced the series to come back on Monday.
