LAS VEGAS – Johnny Sauter coursed the 1.5-mile Las Vegas Motor Speedway in 177.836 mph to capture the Pole Award for Friday night’s NASCAR Truck Series race.

Sauter, driving the No. 13 for ThorSport Racing, was not only pleased with his results, but even a little surprised.

“Man, I can’t even remember the last time I had a pole,” Sauter said upon realizing he would be starting first. “I’m proud of everyone at ThorSport.

“This Ford was superfast this morning from the moment we got on the track. Thanks to everyone in the Fab Shop, Finish Fab and everyone who works there. We have good equipment this year.

“I think even our long runs were fast, so that’s good to know. If we do everything right tonight, I think we have a good shot to win this race.”

Starting next to Sauter is Sheldon Creed in the No. 2 Chevrolet for GMS Racing. The second row will consist of Kyle Busch in his self-owned Toyota starting third, Christian Eckes will start outside his boss in the No. 18 Toyota in fourth.

Third Row is Ty Majeski in the No. 45 Niece Motorsports Chevrolet with Austin Hill in the No. 16 Toyota for Hattori Racing.

Failing to make the race was Bayley Currey, Korbin Forrester and Jennifer Jo Cobb.

Race time is 9 p.m. ET on FS1, MRN Radio and Sirius XM Radio.
