DAYTONA BEACH Fla. — For the first time in RSS Racing’s history, they have put two cars inside the top 10 in the NASCAR Xfinity Series.

With three cars starting the NASCAR Racing Experience 300 from Daytona International Speedway, the single-fil train to end the event played well for two of them, Ryan Sieg and Jeff Green.

With plenty of experience and success at restrictor plate tracks in the series, both Sieg and Green put themselves in the middle of the action at the right time, settling into the high lane comfortably in the top 10.

For Sieg, the veteran came home fourth, as all attempts to win were met with failure.

However, fourth place was everything but failure for Sieg, who scored only his fourth-career top-five finish.

“It’s spectacular for both [cars] of our little team out of Georgia to come home with two top 10s at Daytona,” he said. “It’s fantastic. We have just a few guys, to do three cars, it’s a lot of work and they put it all in.”

For Green, the plate ace adjusted his aggression throughout the race  to keep himself in the lead hunt.

“We just played it safe the first two segments,” Green said. “We got to racing there early and I knew if those guys got away from me, I could not run them down. So, I just had to put myself in the middle of it.”

And when the lead draft stayed single file until the checkered flag flew, Green was in a good spot, finishing seventh in his No. 93 Chevrolet.

“The way the race played out up on the high side like that, it just worked out in everyone’s favor not to be in those wrecks,” he said. “That’s what we were afraid of, but it was pretty sane today.”

One potential reasoning for the “sane” race perhaps came down to handling, said Green.

“With the hot sun it comes down to handling,” he said. “The guys are smart enough these days to take care of the racecars. They’ve handling good enough and that wall is a protector when you’re on the outside. It just shuts every other lane off. You have to put yourself in position to have a good finish.”

Kicking off a new season with strong results only helps an underdog team with loads of potential.

“It’s a great day for Sieg Racing,” he concluded. “Ryan was up there, the No. 38 was up in the top 10. A good way to leave Daytona.”
