In this week’s edition of Throwback Thursday, Kickin’ The Tires relieves when Chris Buescher won the 2016 Pennsylvania 400 from Pocono Raceway.

Chris Buescher had never found victory lane in NASCAR’s premiere series, that was until August 1, 2016 rolled around.

The Cup Series was at Pocono Raceway for the 21st event on the schedule, the Pennsylvania 400.

A race that had been postponed until Monday due to inclement weather occurring on it’s scheduled day of Sunday.

However, weather would become an issue yet again as fog would envelope the Tricky Triangle on lap 132 of the scheduled 160 laps.

Buescher made his fuel last from lap 107 on his No. 34 Dockside Logistics Ford and took a chance on staying out on the track, while his competitors would come down pit road for service.

NASCAR would red flag the event with 22 laps remaining, with NASCAR deciding to call the race official due to how much fog enveloped the track.

The victory would mark the first time that the young driver would visit victory lane at NASCAR’s elite level.

Furthermore, it was a special win for Front Row Motorsports.

The organization hadn’t won a Cup Series event since David Ragan went to victory lane 118 races prior at Talladega Superspeedway during the 2013 season.

“It doesn’t even feel real right now. It’s a tough way to end the race for a lot of people but it’s pretty awesome for us”, said Buescher.

Career Update: The 26-year old Prosper, Texas native now pilots the No. 37 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 for JTG-Daugherty Racing.

Thus far in 2019, Buescher has four top-10s, five top-15s and 13-top 20s with a best finish of sixth coming at Charlotte in May.
