LOUDON, N.H. – With the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series at New Hampshire Motor Speedway for this Sunday’s Foxwoods Resort Casino 301, fans could see the field Busch-whacked for the second consecutive week.
At Kentucky Speedway, last week the series saw brother’s Kurt and Kyle Busch lead a combined 113 of 269 laps at in the Quaker State 400. It was a tense battle to the end but ultimately, it was the elder Busch who found victory lane in the Bluegrass State.
The victory marked his first win of the season with Chip Ganassi Racing.
Kurt Busch will look to make it back-to-back victories this weekend, while his younger brother Kyle will look to capture his fifth win of the season.
Either Busch brother could very well win this weekend, because The Magic Mile is a track where both have seen a magnitude of success across NASCAR.
With a combined 16 wins at the track, they’re both a threat this weekend, according to the stats.
On Friday, Kyle Busch wrapped up first practice in second behind Hendrick Motorsports driver Chase Elliott. Kurt Busch, on the other hand, was scored in the 15th position. But crew chief, Matt McCall didn’t seem too concerned.
And a short time later, qualifying would turn out to be successful for both as Kyle start Sunday’s 301 lap event second and Kurt takes the green flag in third.
One driver, a former Kurt Busch teammate, could very well spoil the show for the Busch brothers and claim the victory. That driver? Stewart-Haas Racing’s, Kevin Harvick.
Harvick is tied in Cup wins with the Busch brother at NHMS at three apiece.
The driver of the No. 4 is also the defending race winner from a year ago and hungry for his first win of 2019. Harvick may have a little work to do with starting in the 14th position but he is know as “The Closer.” In 35 starts at The Magic Mile, in addition to his three victories, Harvick has 11 top-5s, 19 top-10s and has led 718 laps.
