Ray Ciccarelli’s CMI Motorsports continues to expand with the addition of Bayley Currey.
The 23-year-old will drive the No. 49 Chevrolet Silverado in the NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series Strata 200 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Currey has two starts at Las Vegas with a best finish of 16th in the summer of 2018.
"I'm super excited to get back behind the wheel this season and pumped about the opportunity with Ray Ciccarelli," explained Currey. "He has some great equipment and is an awesome guy to work with."
Currey has two top-10 finishes in the NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series. His best career finish, sixth, came at Michigan International Speedway last season with Niece Motorsports. In that same race, Ciccarelli earned his only top-10 finish to date.
"I'm excited to have him on board with us in Las Vegas," Ciccarelli admitted. "I've been lucky enough to race against him and watch him off the track and I think he's the next super star."
Ciccarelli debuted as a team owner at Daytona International Speedway last year. He drove in eight races last year with Stefan Parsons running the No. 49 at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Ciccarelli previously announced that he would run the first five NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series races with two trucks at some tracks.
Currey has had a knack for outperforming his equipment. He has 24 starts in the NASCAR Xfinity Series and 10 in the NASCAR Cup Series. In the Xfinity Series, he has a best finish of 20th at Texas Motor Speedway last year with Mike Harmon Racing. Currey’s best finish in the Cup Series, 25th, came at Pocono Raceway with Rick Ware Racing.
The top-20 that Currey earned at Texas is the best non-superspeedway and non-road course finish for Mike Harmon Racing. The 25th-place at Pocono is tied for the second-best finish for Rick Ware Racing at a non-superspeedway.
