Officials at GMS Racing confirmed on Monday that Chase Elliott will drive the No. 23. Xfinity entry this weekend at Charlotte Motor Speedway to replace suspended driver Spencer Gallagher.

On May 2, NASCAR suspended Gallagher for violating the substance abuse policy set forth in the rule book. Johnny Sauter replaces Gallagher at Dover International Speedway. Brennan Poole tested the car at Charlotte for the organization on May 7.

Elliott’s schedule in the No. 23 entry includes Pocono (June 2), Chicagoland (June 30), Daytona (July 6) and Bristol (Aug. 17). Hooters will serve as the primary sponsor this weekend at Charlotte for the organization.

“I appreciate GMS letting me get behind the wheel of the No. 23,” said Elliott in a press release. “I’m excited to have Hooters on the car for Charlotte. It’s a big week for them and I look forward to representing them in a new way on the Xfinity side.”

Additional drivers and sponsors will be announced at a later date per the organization.
