Aside from Kyle Busch, Kevin Harvick has been the most dominant driver so far in 2018. He’s won a total of four races after 11 events, including three consecutive victories and last weekend’s race in Dover.
Judging by the speed charts at Kansas Speedway this weekend, he won’t be slowing down anytime soon.
Harvick was fastest in a combined Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series practice session with a time of 29.009 seconds at 186.149 mph. The series was originally supposed to have two practice sessions, but both were combined for a 2 hour and 20 minute session after some early morning thunderstorms forced a rearrangement of the on-track schedule.
Chevrolet driver Kyle Larson — who along with fiancee Katelyn Sweet welcomed a baby girl into the world this week — was second quickest.
What an exciting night/morning! Baby came a few weeks early but glad I was able to be in town for it all. Katelyn did amazing and we are excited to welcome a baby girl, Audrey Layne Larson! Busch, Erik Jones, and Clint Bowyer rounded out the top five.
The next on-track action for MENCS is qualifying at 5:45PM CT.
The KC Masterpiece 400 will begin 7:00PM CT and will be broadcast on FS1, MRN, and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.
